Uyuni Bolivia is a small town near the largest salt flat on the planet! This majestic town has been recognized for its beauty and has become one of the many popular tourist destinations in Bolivia. This small town was established by president Aniceto Arce in 1889 and is a military base. Mining and tourism are the two main sources of income in this town. The biggest lithium reserve which is roughly 100 million tons is lying under the nearby salt flat, lithium can potentially fuel batteries. How To Get There
Uyuni can be visited by a plane, car or train. Anyone who wants to visit this small Bolivian town can also take a bus and depending on where you board the bus the time that it will take to reach Uyuni will of course differ significantly. From La Paz, the trip will take up to 12 hours, but if the bus travels from Oruro, it will be roughly 4 hours and it will be 7 hours if the bus leaves from Potosi. As always make sure that you have your tickets before leaving so that you will not miss your bus, and you can get to Uyuni on time as planned. In case it happens, you may have to wait for a few hours before the next bus arrives. So don’t miss place your tickets! The trains takes different routes going to Uyuni and leaves everyday on trips back and forth from Tupiza and Oruro. You can also catch a flight to this small town from Cochabamba.
